Hot Air Ballooning in Tuscany

While L and I were in Europe last year, one thing we both really wanted to do is go on a hot air balloon ride. This was actually the gift to ourselves for our 3 year anniversary. We had been talking about doing something like this for a while, and since we were going to be in some of the most beautiful country sides, why not try it then?

We picked Florence. We were going to be in Florence for 5 nights, so might as well try it  here. We hadn’t booked the trip before arriving, we actually only booked it 2 days in advance, which was very lucky.

The company we used is called Tuscany Ballooning. It is run by a family and provide the utmost care for their guests. We had to be ready at 6am for pick up/transfer from our hotel. We were picked up by a minibus, then headed off to the drop off point, which was south of Florence, in Chianti. We shared our balloon with some other excited guests (it was not crowded at all).

Getting Ready

The weather was perfect for a ride. There was a bit of fog along the mountains, excellent for photos! The view was just fantastic, especially watching the sunrise over the hills.

At the end of the trip, we were served with a light breakfast, which consisted of delicious fruit, hams, cheese and of course, champagne. When it was time to go home, we were dropped off to our hotel.
